jimgarbee 0 Posted July 18, 2009 I wanted to express the feeling of people passing by this kid as he plays along this corner. I thought how depressing it might be that people don't stop and listen. Link to comment
jerrymat 5 Posted July 19, 2009 I like your theme and idea, but there are some problems with the execution of it. The theme is largely dependent upon the contrast of horizontal movement past one stable figure. You could express that horizontal movement much better by making the frame itself horizontal. As it is I can see a foot of a moving person toward the right but the rest of the figure is cut off - a person whose position would express the "passing by" nature of the interaction. I have mixed feelings about the fact that the brick wall is photographed so as to be leaning. It is symbolic of his psychological support, so I can understand arguments that it be vertical and solid but also that it be leaning and of less than firm support because of his failure to attract attention of the passers-by. Thinking about this I wonder if your positioning the camera out at the street looking back at the wall, of the sharp musician with the blurred walkers passing by, would not have expressed your theme better. Of course you might have gotten run over by traffic, but don't we sacrifice everything for the image. Link to comment
