dan_andrews 0 Posted April 8, 2001 Karen-- I have to give this a 7 for originality. The colorful reflection on the water is really quite anice effect. I've never seen anything quite like it ... not even on a postcard. (Maybe you should send that pic to a postcard printer!) For aesthetics, though, I have to give this pic a low rating. The framing on three sides is really disruptive and has to go. Also, the lights of the buildings are overdone to my taste. When you do a long-exposure night shot, it helps to shoot several different pics at radically different exposure times--2 secs, 5 secs, 15 secs, 30 secs. Since you have everything in focus, you might have used f-22, but you can increase sharpness in the foreground by using hyperfocal techniques. Good luck. Link to comment
roger___3 0 Posted April 8, 2001 Karen, you obviously had to work with a number of elements to get the right exposure. the best photos I've seen like this are double exposures. one done while there is still a little light left to exposure for the building and landscape, and another done to expose for the building lights. there are some obvious complications to this method, but it turns a nice scene like yours into a work of art. I agree that the lights are a little blown out, but the colors on the water are especially nice. i'm going a 5 and a 6 for rating. Link to comment
juanio 0 Posted June 18, 2001 Under my modest point of view, I find quite diffcult to accept the water colour reflections if any digital enhancement was applied. Correct me please, if that was not a photoshop work. Anyway the final result is quite positive. Link to comment

archie_sabin 0 Posted January 13, 2003 the play of color is beautiful. This would be a good portfolio piece if larger and crisper. Nice job Link to comment
