steelman 0 Posted July 14, 2009 I like this venue because you can see the entire mountain from which the faces were carved. Your comments and critique are welcome. Thanks Link to comment
podstawek 0 Posted July 15, 2009 Dan, I like your idea of giving the image a natural frame of trees and leaves. Also, the branch pointed at the carved faces is intriguing. However, I believe the image is a bit washed out, as if lacking contrast and saturation (especially the sky and the rocks). Also, there is too much sky in it, giving it some sense of emptiness, at least in my eyes. The building does not add beauty to the picture either, I think. Last but not least, isn't there something wrong with the greens there -- like, you processed them or something? They look strange. Link to comment
steelman 0 Posted July 27, 2009 Adam, thank you for your useful comments. I tried a crop eliminating the building and about one half of the sky. That seemed to improve the picture and gives it a narrowerperspective; however it eliminates most of the framing by the forward trees. These trees are at a higher elevation and are much lighter green than those in lower elevation, alsoI was using a long lens and the trees are slightly out of focus. A larger view of the photo seems to give it a sharper image. I have found that when making reduction of photos to post on PN, the images seem to loose a great deal of sharpness. Perhaps you or someone may have suggestions on how to compensate for this problem, maybe some post processing. Thanks again. Link to comment
