Having recently returned from this location, I shot nearly every conceivable angle of Spider Rock (except this one). :-) Keeping in mind that I'm rather a traditionalist (although trying to get out of that mode), I find myself wanting to see more of the rock in all its splendor. Although I admire your effort to do something different with this, IMO the limb predominates too much, and I would prefer that it not stick into the sky. It looks rather like antlers, and I think it detracts from the rock. I'll be interested to see what others have to say about your version. Having said that, if I could view all of this image on one screen (I can't.....I have to scroll down), that may make a difference....I'm not sure.

LOL! I like your comments. Thanks. It does look like antlers, as though some crazed deer was running into the frame as I was snapping the shutter. I tend to agree. I think it is more of a distraction and doesn't really add any beauty to the scene. I really don't know what I was thinking when I shot it. Thanks again for your thoughts. I'll send this to the trash bin.

I know exactly what you were thinking. :-) You're a great photographer who is always looking for something different from the norm, and thus experimenting with new ideas. Sometimes things just don't come out looking the same as we envisioned. But think of all the shots that DO succeed! :-) And I gave you an honest assessment because that is what I hope and expect to get from others. Thanks for not becoming defensive over my remarks.....shows you're a self-confident and secure person as well as photographer! I got your email....thanks! And I wouldn't be too quick to trash it until you get some other input on it. I'm just one opinion, and I sure don't know what I'm doing half the time. ;-)
