Snow and a curved wall

I took a picture of a train this way recently. The problem was the same as yours - the upper left triange. The tree trunk becomes the subject because of the high contrast and repeating elements everywhere else.

It seems to me the lack of precise focus in the foreground really hurts the picture. Perhaps it is due to blurring from movement.
