corkman 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Thanks Didi and Tina. I'm not a brave man when it comes to snakes Tina, but I was lying flat on the ground and no more than a couple feet away when I took this. I had the advantage of knowing the Hognose snake. They will expand their necks like cobras, hiss menacingly, looking ready to strike. But are known as bluffers because they don't strike, and if they did their posturing is much worst than their harmless bite. Bill Link to comment
Life Photo-Documentaries 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Bill A little bit dark, but very nice approach! Congratulations! JC Link to comment
fischerphotos 0 Posted July 4, 2009 I've never seen a hog-nosed snake that dark before. I too have photographed a few and they are fun to watch when they flatten out there heads or play dead. This is a great capture. Congrats! Link to comment
corkman 0 Posted July 4, 2009 Thanks J.C. and Colton. The darkness comes naturally from an overcast day. Lurking in the shadows should have been the title. The snake's body, as you know, is a mix of black and and bright orange yellow markings, and they are a hoot to watch. Bill Link to comment
