Canon EOS 1v, Velvia, Canon EF 28-135 @ 100mm3-stop graduated ND filter brings the bright light down so metering on the darker water/gondolas below expose properly.

I love the way that came out. One question, i took some similar pics and the sky was totally overexposed, now if i use that filter, do i meter with it on or off?

Hi Dan,

I enjoyed watching some of your pics. Some are really amazing and to be proud of. Maybe the exotic scenics also did help :-)

Greetings

The three gondoliers MAKE this image! Phenomenal photo, and your others are amazing too. When I opened your folder, I put my learning cap on! Thanks for sharing.

Dan, I have seen this same view myself and must say, your picture is about as close to being there as you can get. I love it. Excellent photo.

Dan, I did some shooting in Tuscany and Venice last year and had difficulty with the extreme contrasts there -- I like your idea of using the split ND filter -- I plan to try that on my Italian trip this coming year...
