Sky Tower Falls

stevesieren

I did have a little voice in my head telling me not go on this trip up to Minaret Lake because I was just getting the first few symptoms of a cold but of course who listens to that voice. Even with only 3 1/2 hours of sleep before the drive and hike up I still didn't listen. Even with the worst case of chapped nose, I'm glad I made it up there, just too much stuff up there to photograph even without the Minarets in view. A few vague beams of light appeared just after the sun went down. It didn't look as if they would completely cover all the the Minaret Peaks so I planned on shooting this small cascade and by the time I composed a second shot the color and any evidence of the the colorful beams were gone. I did a little bit of running to get here, sometimes that helps sometimes it does not.

I think it's the essence of nighttime falling on the mountain. Very nicely done, well worth the effort.

Very nicely done Steve, nothing to add, nothing missing.

I looked at your portfolio and like the little "extras" you put in which set apart your images from the typical classical american landscape compositions. (If I may say so being a Swiss who holds high regards for the classics..Marcus Adams being a great contemporary example btw).

A little shadow here, some artifical light there, blurred birds giving a landscape image just that supplement, not "just" wide angle, et voila - you have a nice style Steve.

Mark, Thanks for the compliment. Being versatile with style and not limiting oneself to a single style keeps the soul from becoming banal.
