In the valley on other side of the lake there is village. A dam has been built and the lake behind it isolated the village sorrounded by high mountains. The only communication mean is a little boat which has just started its journey towards the world(Seen as a smal dot on the lake diagonally under the village in the sound cross the lake).

Really nicely done. I was able to spot the village before I read your comment, and would have loved to see the photo in person to be able to spot it without being told it's actually in there.

On another note...the cliffs that are without snow in the upper left seem to make it...unbalanced in a way. (Please, don't import snow and put them on there) Also the finger of water that doesn't show the complete shoreline is a bother. It's so close to being there that it looks like a mistake that it isn't. The separation in the snow on the far right, just above the shore is really nice, and it's too bad (for me at least) that it isn't a continuous texture across the image. I like the browns and the exposed earth, but just feel that they well composed...perhaps something more of them on the bottom in the lower left...or just snow entirely on the distant hills and a little village in the middle. Just curious, how much detail can you make out of the village in your original?

If this was large, and on my wall, I'd look at it every day and smile...

Fantastic shot, though at first I did not see the village and even after being told I still cannot make it out well enough for it to be a factor. It is a lovely landscape, good exposures with details in the snow. Like the varying areas from the grey lake, the brown left side, the purer whites on the right and then the path through the middle to bluer tones. This would look even better as a large print I imagine, good shot.

Thanks Nathan and Paul,

The scenery was even more powerfull than this picture can illustrate. In the original you can distinguish the trees that of course are planted by the villagers. Among the trees you can also see a number of small cottages with snow covered roofs. You can also see a teraced planting area on the hill at the left of the village. This photo was taken at the widest end of my 35-70 mm lens, I also have a picture taken at the longest end of my lens, in which the village have greater details. You can see the village part of the latter picture via the link "Village_IMG0046.jpg" in the following.

VERY nice winter landscape, beautiful lighting and colors, great detail. The areas without snow don`t distract, compositionwise. Yes, it would have been nice to have a 20 mm at that moment - nowadays you can shoot a series of three or four and stitch them together for more FOF. Anyway, great image. Regards, Carsten
