Balconies in San Juan, Puerto Rico

i cannot say whether your subject is on the rich or poor side of the tracks but i have found the best subjects usually come from the poor side of town. you and i are on the same wavelength, always looking for colorful natural shots. i suggest returning to this same place long after christmas, when the wreath and pointsetia(SP?) are gone to take a more natural shot of the subject. myself, i would take a lower angle shot to work those black balcony 'piano key' supports into the shot. i would take dozens of snaps and play with it. it is a wonderful subject you've found.
