single photos Moonrise

Critiques and comments welcome.......I took this picture last October

as the moon was coming up over the city. I found it and thought I

Nice night scene, well exposed.

Good exposure, and I like the moon off to the side. I might have waited until the moon cleared the buildings (perhaps by one or two moon diameters) so that it stood out even more, and I might also crop the sky so that it just clears the tallest building. This makes it more of a panorama, and cropping some of the water would accentuate that aspect -- I think that presentation would work as well.

Jesse, I mostly agree with Stephen's assessment (previous post) in which he talks about moving more toward a panorama-style shot.  Yes, there is a lot of empty space at the top and bottom of the image.  However, as to the positioning of the Moon, I'm a bit torn.  With the Moon a few diameters higher, I think it would turn into just another standard Moon/city scene, but where you have placed the Moon here forced me to "discover" it and it makes your image a bit different.   Mine--just an opinion!  Very nice, regardless!

This is a good shot and I agree with the other critics that it would be nicer if the moon was higher in the sky.

However, on several occasions I have experienced the frustration with posting a good pic then having other people suggest changes which were clearly impossible at the time.

I know the location of this shot. It is about one mile South of the outer islands protecting Toronto harbour. It was taken from a boat, probably one of the many tour boats that cruise the area with up to 500 passengers.

Unless Jesse was the skipper of his own boat he had virtually no possibility of telling the captain to go back a bit so he could get a better shot. Under the circumstances this is a good shot.

Ian, thanks for the comments, just to be clear this picture was not taken in a boat.  I was standing on rocks south of the Palace pier condos.  The reason for this shot is that I liked the moon in the position it was in, I do have other photos of the moon well above the buildings, I just chose this one cause I liked it better.  Again thanks for the words and thanks for visiting.

Thanks Daniel,  I have tried to make it a panoramic shot but I just did not like the cut off feel it left.  So I decided to leave as is.  And you are spot on about the moon,  I did not want it to be another moon shot/city shot, so I thought I would be different and put this one up rather than ones that show the moon well above the buildings.  Thanks for the comments.
