Nice, simple, great colours and play of light and dark zones, interesting human element all combine to make this an excellent portrait.

The arm and hand play a strong role (in filling an otherwise "boring zone") but do not distract from the face. The shirt colours and even the pattern (which could be distracting but isn't) balance the rest very well.

My only critique is that the eyes could be a tiny bit sharper, and I might consider cropping about half of the right edge between the ear and edge of frame.

Very personal, very moving.
