Good Morning. There are a few things that I find less than optimum about this image. The just so slightly off kilter angle of her head doen't really work in a crop that is this tight. I think if the eyes were level it would be much more aesthetic. We've discussed the overly soft nature of your portraits before, but that is your style, but to leave the cut off fingers in the bottom left of the image so sharp is a little strange with them against such a soft face. I can deal with the two catch lights in the eyes, but with the lighting at your disposal, you should have been able to handle the shadows better.

Good portrait and a beautiful face. I agree in part with Scott. I bet you could do better regarding the lighting from your work I've seen.

A soft effect is fine by me, but to me, this is called blurry - sorry Verna. As Scott mentionned, I too have a problem with that piece of a hand in the bottom left corner, sharper than the eyes, and cropped in a very strange way. Cropping the chin may be ok, I'm not so sure. The light strikes me as great, but the composition and the "blur-sharp" problem, to me, prohibits an above average rating. Best regards.

the light here is very plain. the digitized, nearly video gamish, look to it will fool some people into thinking the light is supple and soft when in fact, everything is soft and kind of posterized. in reality, the light blows out in her hair and makes her nose look crooked. the pose is very unnatural as well. at first glance it would seem like she is resting on her hand. there isn't enough pressure on her face for that though, so what is she doing? it would be funny if she stuck her pinky in her mouth and pretended to be Doctor Evil, but as it is, its just awkward. also, cropped too much on the bottom, and not very effective use of tonal range.

besides that, its probably the best pic in your folder. cheers.

Oh sure! I write my critique, go outside for a smoke, come back to reread it and post it and Kelly and Marc sneak in ahead of me. Oh well, here it is anyway.

I must say I'm not crazy about the fingers. I feel you should have either shown more of the hand or removed it entirely because as it is I feel the fingers detract from the shot. I also wish the eyes were more sharply focused. A portrait cropped this closely needs tack sharp eyes IMHO. And lastly, while not trying to beat up your shot too much :-) I feel that when cropped this closely, this girls amazing hair becomes a distracting mesh of blown out highlights. Mostly in the upper right quarter of the image.

You have some nice photos on your portfolio, but I do not particulary enjoy this one. To me it is too soft and the composition is disturbing. It looks too "digital" in its softness. One could do a lot more with this face!

To me, its not a portfolio keeper. Blurry, tilted and too tightly cropped. The model is beautiful, and she is more properly photographed in some of your earlier Angel pieces.

She had a very unreal feel to here, almost plastic, the two catchlights add to this dreemy perfected person feel, very interesting. The sharper hand adds the real, so to me it's very provocitive.

Interesting comment about the "tilted"... I can see that her eyes aren't level....... but why is that improper? To me it actually adds a little bit of motion and interest. Not so boring. I can't see anything technically wrong with this one. Nice work. I like the crop a lot.
