leo burkey 0 Posted June 12, 2009 There's a lot to see here but the composition works. You did a good job with your B&W conversion which is evident by the host of tones displayed. Well done, David. Raccoon footprints? Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted June 12, 2009 Thanks Leo! I need all the BW encouragement/criticism I can get. Yes, I believe these are racoon prints. I shot this at my favorite spot--Little Pigeon Creek. I regularly see swamp deer, coyote, skunk, racoon and all kinds of bird footprints. Right before taking this I was wading with a beaver who didn't seem to mind my company. Link to comment
darko1 0 Posted June 14, 2009 It is very nice composed, love the textures and horizontal tree, I would do some leveling to get ideal horizontal line, maybe some selective focus would be also applied /smaller f or less tilt for background/ but it is not crucial..nice job and excellent capture.. ..darko Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted June 14, 2009 Thanks Darko! Interesting you mention leveling. I chose to level the top of the log in camera, but the thickness difference from left to right creates the appearance that the log isn't level. I shot another frame where the log and the footprints are both diagonal. This one works better with the background details, which are critical in an image like this. Small details create abstractions when combined with other elements. I strive for redundant abstractions in which smaller abstractions are repeated by larger ones. The little details are very important for this... You know I'm more of an f64 kind of guy, so I threw out the thought of selective focus when I stopped down to f45. It was a passing thought during capture, but now I like the background details as much as anything else in this photo. They create various abstractions I see throughout the frame. Link to comment
