Praying for the Tide

stevesieren

Very remote in Humboldt County Northern California Yes those are flies on this slowly dying starfish. Shot a few exposures to catch the bugs as sharp as could be and noticed a lot of movement while the starfish seemed to be stationary in front of me. I thought I would post something different than the usual starfish photo here. Sorry about not moving the big rock but I didn't want to disrupt the scene.

Steve, Hello, I enjoyed your photo and I hope the tide comes in to help this star fish..Nice capture. Take care. Where I live in Minnesota we do not see star fish so it was neat to see .

Great colors and DOF! I love it! You should not feel that you should have say Sorry for not moving the rock... It's your photo. People are either going to like it or not. Although it is nice when others enjoy your work, I feel one should shoot for themselves and not be compelled to be a "people pleaser"... The world is flawed, why should photos of it be portrayed as perfect? :) Well done, keep it up!!

Even with the rock, this is kind of a gray hum-drum image, but that star fish pumps life into it. My eye tends to start fish first then it follows the rocks to the fog. But it then comes back to the start fish and you begin to notice the small details like the fly's. Great shot. You gallery is very impressive. I stopped by after a comment you made on mine. Idaho has lots to offer. Thanks for sharing and keep shooting! Charles

Humans are well advised not to think they could arrange a scene better than nature already did. The rock is there and your decision was right not to (re)move it. It makes a wonderful contrast to the reddish orange of the starfish.
