I welcome constructive criticism and I know that people learn much of it especially beginners like myself ..

I agree with you on that the shirt is a little over exposed .. But I absolutely do not agree that she looks like a corpse ...Otherwise, I think it is in the eye of the beholder, and unfortunately this is very clear that my eyes do not see what your eyes see.

Bettie said it all Jill......the pose hasn't bothered me at all....and did not seem odd when I first saw it......I rather like it alot as all LInitha's lines 'mesh/connect' she exudes a softness..yet I see a confidante woman......who seems very comfortable in her 'sexuality''....she says it all in her expression......great EYES!!!!! WONDERFUL COMPOSITON......often our 'woman SENSE'....allows us to see so much in an image....beautiful!!

Hi Jill, I like the horizontal format, and the angle of her head, good placement of the eyes for the rule of thirds, and the tones are elegant....I like her against the stark black of the background...very nice clarity. I don't see the tension mentioned in the comments, but I'm not a portrait person either. I think you did a great job....:)

eyes and halftones ...

I think those eyes are incredible. I love the softness of her face, and how her hair blends into the background. I also like her pose. I have to agree about the whiteness factor of her blouse. Still, wonderful work here, Jill.
