this is a very honest photograph...with no pretension...no attempt to be something that it's not. unfortunately it's the kind of photograph that will be largely overlooked, or flat out ignored...as it isn't "pretty"...which i think is a shame. this is a wonderful capture of an unposed little piece of real life. it goes beyond being merely a snapshot...not that there's anything wrong with snapshots...but for me it crosses over into true art as there is obvious effort to make it such. i only wish i could recall the young man's name with whom i had an extensive dialogue in which he insisted that a red-eyed snapshot he had taken was "fine art". I insisted that if we want to call anything/everything art...then I suppose it could be called art...but "fine art"...I have an issue with. For me...there has to be some type of purpose and effort behind a photograph for it to be termed fine art. you've captured not only a moment in life...but there is emotion and mood and something that makes one ponder the situation...who is this young man...what are his thoughts. the other photo i spoke of had a well groomed attractive couple ...wearing trendy clothes, hugging gratuitously and smiling with eyes glued , strictly posing for the lens...looking as though they couldn't put together a single thought between the two of them. excuse me...but your guy looks as though he couldn't give a shit about the camera...he's just carrying on....and that's much of the appeal. hope you will offer your thoughts on your photograph...and give me insight as to what you see in the pic...what your intentions were...and perhaps a reaction....to my reaction. best to you...jg
