ray.koushik 0 Posted June 5, 2009 Thank you for the appreciation and support, Alberto. The title is of course from the famous Jim Reeves song "welcome to my world" --- the title of the other photo in this folder. -koushik Link to comment

laurent_jaussi 0 Posted June 5, 2009 the massive door overpowers the people so much...it's almost frightenning.... Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted June 5, 2009 Koushik, very good composition. Perspective and human figures make the temple door look massive. I have been knocking at the gate, but no luck for me:-) Link to comment
lliebl 5 Posted June 5, 2009 This is a fine image. The b&w is the key to its effectiveness. Well done! Regards, ~~~~~Linda Link to comment

mauroni 0 Posted June 7, 2009 How great this picture, with a strong impact due to its optical characteristics. How did you obtain the perfet vertical lines? In camera with t&s lens? In post-production? Congrats, my friend Mauro Link to comment
ray.koushik 0 Posted June 8, 2009 Keith, Mauro, thanks a lot for the appreciation and support. Mauro, the alignment was achieved by the maker of the door...I deserve no credit for that. It is the door of a temple in Pondicherry, a huge one. The reason I did not mark it as unmanipulated is that I decomposed it in RGB channels and kept only the red channel to get the contrast and retouched some defects of the door panel. Here's the original. -koushik Link to comment
mauroni 0 Posted June 8, 2009 Hi Koushik. Do you mean that the door's maker handcrafted a door with divergent vertical lines to correct the perspective error just the way the ancient Greek architects made with the Parthenon in Athens 2500 years ago? Mauro Link to comment
ray.koushik 0 Posted June 8, 2009 Dear Mauro, I see your point now. I actually sat down to take the picture...the door is bigger than what I could capture in one frame. I guess that's the reason of getting no perspective error. I have a simple automatic camera and there's no way to attach extra lens etc. In this instance I didn't make any changes with the software. But I agree with you that I was lucky not to get perspective error in this. Thanks a lot for raising the point, I had overlooked it. -koushik Link to comment
