The reason I found this photo so intriguing was because the lighting was different on the man vs the woman. At first glance I thought it was something completely different. The true image revealed itself more slowly than usual. That was part of the beauty to me.

I agree with Jim Adams' response. This photograph is lacking all emotion and would not even satisfy a product advertisement's pictorial requirements for conveying even the barest of man/woman relationship ideas. Please can the Elves set themselves criteria that include capturing a moment as only a camera can. And it's clearly not rain, but a rigged jet or a shower. This is the trouble with digital, it causes misplaced focus on production qualities instead of the meaning and compulsion of the content.

Hi:
Maybe some of you folks had the same problem I did? At first it was too dark and I could not make out what it was . I recalibrated my monitor with eye one display 2, and found the photo supurb. 2 things that though minor. First the line between borders I would like to be a darker gray like the man's face, as well as the sig which I would like to be positioned in the bottm border with the Title in the center and sig far right (Same color as border separation).
I though the photos was very powerful.

I've looked at this photo for a while now, and read all the other reviews. I now realize that what would make this picture work for me is to completely remove the man altogether. The woman alone, in the rain totally works. Let the viewer imagine who she is looking at or waiting for. The man's image in this shot brings too much differential on several levels, as many of the reviewers have noted, and can be a distraction, rather then a complimentary element, as was intended. Woman alone is very powerful. When you add man with woman in a photo, it better be posed, composed, and lit perfectly so that they become 'one' in their interaction. In this scene the man becomes an 'intruder' into the sensual glance of the woman.

At first glance the feminine lines are quite interesting and evocative,
There's a nice balance of sorts. That the male is underemphasised is nothing unusual - it may be a statement in itself - I guess it's what your metephysical approach is to conjugality, but I like it as it is, for what it is.
Composition should reflect the purpose of the image right? With no stated context, my uneducated approach would be to see the good in what's there in an image.
This image is attention-catching and evocative. Thanks Massimilliano.

Sorry, I know people are going to be really mad at me but I think that it sucks. Although I would love to be the guy in the photo. I have seen some of the finest images in the world on this site and I just don't think that this photo passes muster.

Yes, perhaps seing the man's expression a bit better could have been interesting, and yes, perhaps the woman alone would have a made a very good picture... but these 2 alternative pictures would be different pictures all together, with different content and message. My question would be: what exact difference would it make to see him better, or to leave her alone in this frame, without him ? A HUGE difference, imo. But is it actually "wrong" to just see a hint of him and to have a single expression (her's) to focus on and wonder about...?! I don't think so... it seems to me, that the present POW's composition leaves us wondering HOW A WOMAN FEELS WHEN SHE'S IN LOVE... We are not sure, whether she's in love or not, of course, but that's still what the two person's proximity indicates, doesn't it ? And then, her gaze makes perfect sense... a little shy, a little absent... I see emotion in her eyes - although I can hardly see them... So, to me, this picture is about the mystery of love, about the way a woman feels when she's ready to offer herself to the man she loves... And this was indeed the purpose intended for this photo, then it's a good thing that we don't see his face. He has to be there - otherwise it wouldn't be a picture about love, and he has to remain in the dark if the photographer wanted to concentrate on HER feelings... Nothing wrong with the choice the photographer made for this image imo.
I would like to know if this picture was actually a composite or not, and I would like to know what it was used for, if anything...
Finally, I'd like to say that light and composition are beautiful here, just like in most of Massimiliano's portfolio. As I see it, many of his pictures may have been chosen as POWs. This particular picture may not be his best, but it's definately a very interesting image, and I hope it will lead viewers and POW readers to see more of his beautiful work.

The photo has a very nice and intriguing light that it may comes from anywhere. It's not strong, so what you see is rather enlightened shadows than clear skin and faces. My only remark is that the man's face should have some details than completely dark.Best regards

Love it wouldn't change a thing. I like how the light emphasizes the woman, and the water (also a female element).
For those complaining about the man being obscured in the shadow, he's a prop to produce emotional context for the scene, nothing more, might as well complain about not being able to see the walls clearly.
perfectly done.

I have no doubt this photo is interesting as per the subject as per the technical content but overall these aspects are covered by absence of veraciousness

Wow ... it sure evokes feelings: the darkest version of them together... from far away amazing light and detail, but close up I wish the models' faces are more expressive somehow and maybe the woman's mouth might work better closed.

I like what Doug Burgess did with the photo. I suspect that the two would be getting closer together pretty soon anyway. More light on the side of tha man's face is better in spite of his odd indifference.

A title suggestion: "In the shower" (not in the rain as described)

An improvement of this intimate moment would have brought the man and the woman closer together with a touch more light on the man's face and possibly more passion on both faces. He seems to be smiling, not an appropriate expression for two naked people in a shower (or rain) moving closer together. The shot is almost sexy.

congratulation!! An awesome job. If there were something to improve as to me, I think it would be nice to have the two people look at each other. OR, maybe to let audience feel the girl's eye sight without putting more light by using some sort of trick.

I like the original darker version of the image... more magic in the background shower and mystery in the profiles. Nice idea and composition.

I like the lighting. It is balanced in a very subtle manner, which I assume was hard to achieve.
It's a great image of lovers!
7/7.

Very nice image. I think the lighting is just right, it makes it seem like it's almost a forbidden thing. You are left wondering what is going to happen. Clandestine? Perhaps. Thanks for sharing.
