ndj 0 Posted June 3, 2009 Excellent composition, and lighting Martin. Good eye there. Neil Link to comment
stp 6 Posted June 4, 2009 This is an incredible rock formation -- the various shapes and relationships make for a great composition. I wish the light had been less harsh; perhaps slightly less exposure would do the trick. If I ever get back to Joshua Tree, I'd like to see this place; can you tell me the part of the park where this is located? I'd guess the NE portion. Thanks. BTW, your personal homepage is very well done. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 30, 2010 Stephen, this is located right in the heart of Jumbo Rocks campground. It is a classic photo location; and, Martin, you have done a superb job with the composition and the exposure. As I recall, this location is best photographed in the a.m. It is about 2/3rds of the way into the campground as you drive the loop road, and it'll be off to your left (kind of ESE in the jumble of rocks next to the road). Cheers! Chris Link to comment
stp 6 Posted January 31, 2010 The comment from Chris (thanks for the location, Chris) made this pop back up on my screen, and I'm not sure why I commented (back in June) on the harsh light. I think it's fine. Perhaps it's my longing for sunshine after having been under cloudy skies for many weeks. Link to comment
mquinn01 0 Posted January 31, 2010 Thank you both for your comments on this. This location is right in the Jumbo Rocks campground and a very short hike from the parking area. I really would have liked some clouds but it wasn't to be. One thing I wanted to point out, this was shot just before sunset, I guess it depends on the time of year. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 31, 2010 You know you're right. I was trying to remember when I had walked over there and looked at these rocks the last time what time of day it was. I think I was there in the a.m., but realized it was a 'late-in-the-day' photo location. You really do have some nice light here. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
stp 6 Posted April 1, 2011 Well, Martin's photo popped up once again on my screen, and I can now say that I found the location! I stayed at the Jumbo Rocks campground for about a week in February, and two evenings and two mornings were spent all around this large rock formation. These rocks are so incredibly interesting -- and instantly recognizable. Link to comment
Saadsalem 74 Posted June 10, 2016 I guess it's your eyes or mind who made this great composition, an extraordinary natural abstract. Seven and favorite. Regards. Link to comment
