Spot meter. I have had this ebony sculpture for a while and realized I could put it to use for a photograph recently. I used a blanket over a chair and placed the sculpture on it under both natural window light and a table lamp and shot this image with an FL-D filter. When I was in high school the famine in Ethiopia was on everyone's mind and hence the title. I hope you like it. Any comments are welcome.

I love this ! (Not the frame though, which should imo be simple and black...). Now another question: could you have moved to the right by a foot or so ? It way have leped to avoid the little dark triangle top right (which I'd clone off). It would also allow you to have the "heroes" a bit further away from the edge without including more undesirable background. But well, all these are small things, and I still love it !

Thanks a lot for your comments. Marc - I could have moved a bit to the right as you suggest, so that I could have eliminated the black corner. I thought that the corner (in my mind at least) added something dark to the background, which I thought was interesting. In any case, your point is well taken. I did not place the sculpture anymore to the left as I did not want them to follow or appear to follow the "rule of thirds". I wanted them to be different in certain respects. I will shoot some more of these and make further postings and I will take your advice on some of them - 8^) Thanks a lot.

I couldn't agree more with Marc's suggestions, the frame and the dark triangle at corner. As for placing them more to the center I'm not that convinced. I like them as they are. Were it not for the frame I'd give here a couple of 7s

I love the color it is very warm and inviting . The blanket creates a desert background and plays off of the ebony well. Nice contrast. Highly creative.

very cool. great use of curves, subtle/simple tones, and the counterpoint of the surrealistic figures. love it!
