An Empty Hammock (Best Large)

vincetylor

For those of you going through the Winter Blues. This image represents what island living (or visiting) is all about. I have been back many times, but never found conditions as good. Now, the trees are too tall! Taken in Oct 99. www.hawaiianphotos.net

Such nice colours and lovely place!

But, I think I know why the hammock is empty,

there is probably a sign somewhere saying:

Beware of falling coconuts!

GREAT SHOT!!

Hi, Vincent. I like the colors here mostly, and the composition is fine but a bit flat. Would have worked a tad better, and mostly be more original with a shorter lens and a more spectacular angle, This kind of shot has really been done zillions of times, and I think you need here to find something to make it more special, as you did with your red waves shot, for example. It's very nice but a bit boring as it is. Regards.

I thought that I had commented on these images before. The simplicity is wonderful and really sets the mood for those of us who are buried in a foot of snow ;)

Thanks to you all for sharing your thoughts on this image. This image is probably my personal favorite. It truly represents Hawaii the best way I know how. It is also our best seller whatever island we put it on. They are always asking us for more Hammock , more hammock....ok ok.

Thanks again.

Great colors. I gave the pic a 6 not 7 for aesthetics because the cut off tree tops bother me a little, I don`t know why but I`ve looked at this photo a couple of times and this always catches my eye. Still a great photo though.

niiiice. Very inviting. Do you use the clone tool? If so, there's a little whitecap on the left. Love the hammock.

Yet another mind-boggling shot...this must be where they shoot all those Corona beer commercials! I love this shot--if I had to be really, really picky I'd say I would like to see the hammock a touch higher in the shot. But, I realize moving the camera down would cut off the tree tops, which are perfectly composed. And, zooming out would lose the intimate nature of this shot. So, I have a thought but no solution! Perhaps a different vantage point may also work well (I'm sure you tried several...just brainstorming). In the end, I would still think I was the best photographer in the world if I had this shot in my portfolio! :)

New and larger view uploaded 6-07.

Thanks Tyler for taking the time to critique this. This image has turned out to be our all time best seller on any island we sell it. I guess it represents what Hawaii is all about to folks visiting here. There was a little girl playing just below what you see here. But the truth is, I would lose valuable top palms if I went down any lower than this. I took this out of its mount to get all the image that is there and scanned recently. Have not edited the new scan yet, but will soon. Thanks again.

All the best,

Vince
