Guest Guest Posted May 24, 2009 Simple, yet thoughtful. Because it is out of focus, as you intended, your foreground does not have a good black. For this reason and because of the straight line dividing it from your background, the picture reads as two regions, not a unified whole. You might consider selecting the foreground and enhancing it with Curves or Levels so it works better with the background. You've caught the atmosphere well. Link to comment
treeffe 0 Posted May 26, 2009 I like this simple scene, the ligth on background is excellent. I don't know if a different composition, leaving out of frame part of the defocused foreground, could help. Anyway a very good job! Reagrds Fabio Link to comment
elke s. 0 Posted May 26, 2009 Thank you for your opinion, Charles and Fabio. But if I'm honest, I like the defocused foreground and I used a wide aperture deliberately. Perhaps the next time I will take some comparison with other aperture. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 27, 2009 I agree that your out-of-focus foreground is an important part of your picture, but perhaps it needs tonality more like that of your background to work well with it. Or perhaps the softer tonality is part of the contrast you wish to develop here. Choose what you wish. Link to comment
