tsypkin 230 Posted May 24, 2009 I like the evening light in this shot. You might consider cropping the right edge a little bit. Link to comment
ifti 1 Posted May 25, 2009 Very nice capture I do not know the history behind. Good lighting without harsh shadows. Nice color. Agree with the suggestion about the tree on the right. If you had it in original other variation will be to include the trunk of the tree. Consider increasing the contrast and saturation a but that is my personal bias. Well done. Link to comment
mtfaidherbe1 0 Posted May 25, 2009 i had a dilemma there: if i cut the tree, i cut the cloud... Poor cloud, I did not want to cut it... and no space in front of the church made it weird at my eyes. Link to comment
Tom Wiggins Photography 0 Posted May 25, 2009 Marie-Thérèse: I understand your dilemma, then I have things that distract from the photo, if I can't crop them out, I clone then out. Hope this helps. See my latest post in which I cloned out a man on the left edge. Tom Link to comment

Landrum Kelly 65 Posted May 26, 2009 No shopping, and it looks great. My guess is that the default settings in the camera are pretty close to what you like in terms of saturation, brightness, contrast, and sharpness. Does that camera give RAW files? If it does, then you might have to adjust at least the four variables I referred to above. RAW files typically come out flat, and most pros like that so that they have total control of post-processing. --Lannie Link to comment
mtfaidherbe1 0 Posted May 26, 2009 no RAW, it is a relatively cheap camera... I plan to buy a better one with one of my first salaries in my new job... :)) Link to comment
mtfaidherbe1 0 Posted May 26, 2009 About the default settings: I used them at a start, but not anymore. Not that I am a great expert, though. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted May 26, 2009 "Expert" or not, you are very, very good. You have a very impressive portfolio. If I may ask, what on earth do you do for a living that takes you from Belgium to Portugal to Morocco, and now back to live in Portugal--with plans to go back to Belgium? Also, how many languages do you speak? In any case, I am glad that you did not "cut the cloud," as you say above. --Lannie Link to comment
mtfaidherbe1 0 Posted May 26, 2009 And, I am, for sure, not very very good. Not even good. Don't laugh of me. At the most, I have a style that you like. And I am not even sure of that. Link to comment
Tom Wiggins Photography 0 Posted May 26, 2009 Marie-Thérèse: Ok, no photoshop, and I understand your position. I generally do as little as possible. In most cases, I do not much more than I could have when I had a darkroom. I knows it's difficult to see all the little things that make a photo better when looking through the view finder. Frankly, tree on the right is not a real issue and cropping the cloud I whould think would not be a problem if you chose to do that either. Tom Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted May 28, 2009 I might have cut the cloud. I am not sure. Link to comment
