Sneaking out of the Frame

rachel

Shot this, and decided to have some fun - created the frame in Photoshop and also the texture and got my squirrel to try to "sneak out" of the frame. Hope you like it! it was quite an exercise in using layers.

I'm usually not big on Digital Alterations, but this is pretty cool. Nice idea and well pulled off. Maybe if you had an Acorn falling out :)

Yep digitally created shots are never my favourite either, however...this is a great (and difficult) photo to get right, your treatment of it is funny, striking and very well done. You even have catch lights in the model's eyes!

I like the composition and balance that your framing brings to the picture. I might do without the texturing on the colors. I think they would be nicer as solids.

Not only is this a good/fun idea, but you picked the right animal to pull it off. The only thing that might improve this is what has already been suggested, perhaps a drop-shadow effect in line with the natural lighting to give the head more depth. Either way, this is a great photo! I'll give you $1.2 million dollars for the rights. Thanks.

Good idea, but the execution is so so to me. I dont thing the textures of the 2 frames add much. Then I notice that the yellow frame has irregular borders and unwanted white outlines. More importantly the animal itself isn't sharp. Regards.

I find the framing similar to the National Geographic commercials on television, where they show these animals/birds etc inside or peeping out of a yellow rectangle.

Great concept. Good shot (I wish it were sharper), fantastic pose (must have taken many peanuts for bribes). The presentation is extremely good.

Very nice framing, it fits the curious caracter of the Montreal Squirel quite perfectly. The close cutting of the fur must have been difficult! The expression of the little rodent is what I find truely excellent abouth your picture. Did you shot this at Parc Lafontaine? If so, be careful, there is a big albinos squirel hinding there (serious, I'll post its picture after Christmas).
