simply wonderful in every respect. the building is of course...an architectural wonder..but it took a good photographer to capture it in all of it's majesty...and that's exactly what you've done. the toning is a fabulous touch. best regards, jg

Liz, Bob & John: Thank you for your positive comments. I must tell you that there is no toning involved these are the natural colors do to the lighting from the windows. Tom

Lovely shot Tom....it truly is a magnificent place and you've captured it quite nicely. So much to try to fit into a frame. I like this POV as we can see the wonderful light coming in through all the windows....congrats...great shot!

I like the color tones in the picture. I would crop off the top to just above the next arch point and off the bottom to just cut out the priest. This would make the lighter area above the altar more of the focal point. It is a shame the stain glass windows are blowing out because they could add some additional interest. The feel of the shot is very strong. Very good perspective in the shot and the DOF works as it fades off. -- Charles

Charles: Thank you for your comments. I agree that it's a shame the windows are blowen out. I wonder if there's enough info in the RAW file to do HDR, guess I'll have to look at it. Tom

Hi Tom,

I like the wonderful tones and details in stonework. This is my favourite of your most recent posts.

For me the left/right balance of the image would be stronger if it was either completely balanced or very obviously unbalanced. The same goes for the mix of bottom and ceiling detail; it might be better to do as Chales suggests and remove all distracting detail from the bottom or alternatively sacrifice some ceiling to include the floor/pews/people. As it is, it feels slightly ‘uncomfortable’, but then on the other hand, an uncomfortable viewer is not necessarily a bad thing and after all it may have been what you were after :).

All the best,

Mike

Mike & Charles: Thank both for your comments! While my intension was to show symmetry, I agree the cropping needs to be different. I am going to rework this and submit it again; I hope you will both comment on the redo. Thanks again. Tom
