jcg23 0 Posted May 19, 2009 A study of a frayed knot. I loved the dynamic lines of the rope and the fraying ends in opposition to the diagonal lines of the plastic sheet behind. Link to comment
WJT 647 Posted May 20, 2009 A simple thing, but for some reason strangely attractive. Excellent exposure. I especially like the restricted color palette. Perhaps without the stitched folds in the very upper portion this would have been stronger? My attention seems to be drawn up and out because of them. Regards. Link to comment

reisenberger 0 Posted May 20, 2009 I have to concur with Walter et al - this is lovely. Of course the diagonals are beautifully placed. But what attracts me is the way the rope disintegrates - it is almost like matted hair - which gives a strong feeling of something organic. And then there is the transition from strength, to decay, back to strength again. Also, do the strong diagonals of the picture (and rigidly straight alignment of the rope) suggest strength ('still hanging on') rather than weakness in the frayed rope? (A picture of a frayed rope, limp, could easily be opposite.) I think the dynamic between the artfully falling frays versus the tautness of the rope could be part of the strength in this picture. The colouration too is compelling. Somehow the strong blue does not overwhelm the rope - the rope seems to glow in a silvery manner. What do you feel yourself about the stitched, folded part? Just lovely - the most refreshing thing I have seen on photo.net today Regards Dylan Reisenberger Link to comment
