corkman 0 Posted May 19, 2009 Heard my dog barking and discovered this snake. It raised it's head, expanded its neck like a cobra, and hissed. Goggled it and closest I came was an Eastern Hognose Snake, but couldn't swear by it. Link to comment

corkman 0 Posted May 21, 2009 Thanks BC and Talal. I've since confirmed that this is a Hognose Eastern snake. And also learned that the blowing up of the neck cobra style and hissing is all a bluff. It rarely bites, and wouldn't hurt you or your pet if it did. Another interesting thing about this beautiful creature is that if it feels really threatened, it will roll over and play dead. But one thing gives it away. If you roll it back over on it's stomach, it'll roll right back belly up. I moved it away from the dog without harming it. I hope it comes back. Bill Link to comment

watchboximages 0 Posted June 1, 2009 Hey Bill, Great shot. I have to say I have learnt something today. I did not realise that there was a snake that was as tame as this in the world. Live and learn. Over here snake pretty much means = one of the top 10 poisenous snakes in the world. Hope you are well. Regards Graeme Link to comment
