Hi, Marco Bolding. Your comment is welcome. However its a question of view. I mean that this shot will be world wide distributed. My thinking was: it might be help that owner, because some of the visitors might be activated to look more carfully at the windows in the old town of Prague. And no one knows might find that shop - or an other shop to ... . One additional view: that sign was mounted by the owner to provocate a shot (for distribution) - also a story ? If I will stay again in Prague I will ask the owner - and might be buy ... . TBR Joerg

I like the moral delema this presents. First, I would like to say I love the colours, composition and prominent position of the no shooting sign. For the moral delema, I want to know why there is no shooting allowed. For copy-right protection? to protect the art from flashes? Where is this displayed? In a private gallery, or can it be seen from the street? I think the right to capture images should not be revoked in public displays, regardless of what the subject is. As for copyrights, you did these artists justice in displaying their work so many can enjoy them. Very beautiful.

I liked the composition. For me, it's a good and well seen street photo. And I aggree with your proposition: 'that sign was mounted by the owner to provocate a shot (for distribution)' .

Moral or immoral, that is not the issue, art is to provoke, raise questions, document events, express our feelings. Do you think that when the Vatican first saw "The Birth of Venus" they were thinking " Yah Yah thit is moral", but still its great art. Morality is something that we define that is why men are very hypocrites, we speak of freedom and create wars, we preach others with moralities but the do a lot of sins every day, we all speak of human rights but we care for our dogs more than we care for the thousands dieing every day in Africa and Asia! Well I prefer to be immoral if the other option was hypocrisy. This my be harsh for some respectful PN members, but i am only being truthful.

I think the paintings are art, the photo isn't. Photographer raises point that displayer uses the sign for promotion, cause it provoces someone to shoot, but has not checked this. So I hold on to the opinion that this photo is against the will of the owner/artist or shopkeeper. Kind of like papparazzi do.

It would be more provocing if there was a group of people in front of the window with the sign photographing it and made the photo of them. "Look a those silly people!", I would say then.

Marco thanks, you made a comment: the paintings are art. If so they should be public or private only ? Our " shots" are public for informations, provocations, comments, teaching, learning, activation ... or so. BR Joerg

Hayder Al-Ward , your comment shows the always going on conflict: what we shall respect : freedom of thinking, the value of an acceptable life - or shall we have respect of that what someones owns and dont want to share without a personal handicap? If its art it shall be public !!!! And now its more public. It will be great if we can get the opinion of the owner of the shop resp. the artist. BR Joerg

Hi Jorg, great shot which provoked such an interesting and lively discussion. Of course it is fine to photograph this display if it is posted in a public place. I would like to comment on the frame. At first, I found it too harsh, jumping right in your face, but then I realize that its obnoxiousness is a perfect trick to captivate the attention of the viewer and to make him studying each panel in detail. Between the frame and ‘no photography’ sign the whole image stands out as a very original creation to be remembered for long time. Best regards, Vadim
