steve_herbert 0 Posted December 15, 2002 The church's shape against the mountains makes for an excellent graphical composition. I wonder if it wouldn't have worked better without the boat, which interrupts this abstract photo with realism. Either way, still an excellent photo. Link to comment
paul_ensom 0 Posted December 15, 2002 Very interesting combination of two dimensional and three dimensional planes.. Love b&w Link to comment
niranjn 0 Posted December 15, 2002 This church has an interesting shape indeed. The way you have taken it, frontally, it practically looks like a cardboard cut-out (2D, i.e.). Nicely done. The mountains give the photo depth, though I would have preferred them with a little bit more definition. The boat does NOT belong in this picture. It completely disturbs the tranquil mood, and it's ugly. A boat with sails, or even a raft would be good, but not this boat. Link to comment
graham_bailey 0 Posted December 15, 2002 Have to agree about the boat, otherwise a superb B&W. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted December 17, 2002 Yes, I think that this would be an even better image if we lose the boat... What do you think Nicolas? Link to comment
qit_qat 0 Posted December 17, 2002 Hi all, first thanks a LOT for your comments !I have to agree 100 % with you, the boat doesn't need to be there.I have other photos of this without the boat, i'll just need to crop it and i'll post it again. Thanks to Peter to spend time on erasing the boat, it really make a difference for sure !Once again, i learn that simpler is often better. dwhysong 0 Posted December 19, 2002 Interesting shapes; the church outline compliments the background mountains. Link to comment
Robert DeCandido PhD 10 Posted December 25, 2002 I like the silhouettes much and have to agree with the others that without the boat, the photo is much stronger. AND, this photo is wonderful in b/w and probably would not work in color. rdc/nyc/25Dec02 Link to comment
