Intense lighting setup -- definitely captures the gothic mood. Great use of color. Framing seems a little cramped; for one thing, she's toe-free on the right side of the frame.

that is the one thing that really bugs me about this shot. i had framed it right on the edge cause i basically ran out of room to move back. but in mounting the slide of course the edges got even more cramped. i should have unmounted it to scan but didn't think of it till it was too late.

Framing is a pity. But, this is an excellent shot, wonderful color and concept. What was your setup like? I would like to assume this is all props and lighting. But it's so bizarre and unique, it looks like so much could have been added later, digitally (but we all known it could also be done in the darkroom too) so I'm very curious about the process. Very well done, aside from the cropping misfortune.

Thanks for your comments on my photograph (http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1096458. I have a version on my computer with the lighter region burned, but I haven't had the time to upload it and I'm not sure if I will.

Pity about the cramped space. It doesn't kill the shot, though. Perhaps adding a black border would lessen the effect.

I just noticed something else I really like about this. I failed to notice that you have carefully placed the lighting emphasis on the knife, the skull, and the halo effect on her hair. Great use of trangular composition.

I love this light brush work, is it hard to do? I am going to try it. If you can give me some pointers would appreciate it. Very nice work

James, I think this is a great image. I agree with Lisa that the head seems a bit disproportionate however the lighting is stunning and otherwise I like the composition. I looked through your folder with the additional images and my favourite is Sara Four. Thanks for the image (s). Great work.
