This was taken outside the waterloo street Chinese Temple, a temple with many devotees. Somehow her face under her umbrella got certain emotions that caught me but I can't simply can't real;y express in words. What do you think? Feedback welcome.

Can't put words to the mixed feelings I saw from her lined face. All

feedback welcome.

Cherlyn, a good character portrait but I wonder about the focus on the left side of her face (right side of the image).

Cherlyn,

I love the captured expression. I feel she is carrying some thoughts and life experiences. Best Regards

Cherlyn, nice close-up. Too bad your focus is off. Some PS sharpening might help. Cheers.

Yes, I agree there is a slight off-focus on the outer face. As I need to be quick before she is swallowed by the crowd of devotees or just disappear from sight the next moment, so proper focusing is not done.

Spontaneous with soft tones. I prefer the original one to the sharpened version. A strong character portrait.

A beautiful portrait of an aging woman in the rain. I agree about the enigmatic expression. The weak eyes, resolute mouth, worried furrows above the nose -- again, a beautiful, beautiful portrait.

A portrait with great expression. She looks very wise with her years of experience.

Cherlyn, your original one with soft focus portraits soften and minimize lines and blemishes. This unintentional effect also helps balance uneven skin tones and draws attention away from imperfections. So for sharpening may not be a good idea after all.

Cherlyn, a poignant portrait. She has seen much and have doubts in her mind about what is life after all. Very good cropping.

Thank you Spencer for the sharpen version & feedback. Appreciate your opinion. I must learn from you how to sharpen images.
