johngauvreau 0 Posted April 28, 2009 From a rainy night down at the docks in Hamilton Harbour, this laker should be carrying ore and steel products across the Great Lakes, but is laid up indefinitely because there is no cargo to carry. Thanks for looking, I do appreciate it. Link to comment
heider 0 Posted April 28, 2009 Very well seen and captured. The composition is very good. The only thing i would like to see is some more sharpness; I have used Nik Sharpener Pro for this. Very well done and best regards. Link to comment
k5083 1 Posted April 28, 2009 I like the placement of the anchor with the chain leading to the ship. The various light sources are nicely balanced. If you would be willing to consider some manipulation, I might be tempted to darken that bright blue patch of water right behind the keel, which I think attracts the eye more than it should. johngauvreau 0 Posted April 29, 2009 Thank you all for your comments. Thierry, I appreciate the kind words, especially coming from someone with as good a portfolio as yours (I love the Daily Life images!) August, you're quite right about the blue on the water. Now that you've pointed it out, I can see that it would be better with the correction you suggest. Hayder, thank you for taking the time to include the sharpened version. Interestingly, although you're right and it does look better, when I try a comparable amount of sharpening on the original, larger file, it looks artificial. Just the difference between making a large file look good and a small one look good. It's a tip I'll keep in mind though, as I shrink other images before posting. Thanks to all! Link to comment
