Marlee,

I like the idea and I think it would sell to the bride & groom and/or parents, but...

I would set it up in a studio setting so that you could get the background perfect and maybe do it as part of a sitting of some kind.

As you have it now your rectangle is not rectangular - your background is not white - there's a handle on the right side - Perfect is good enough for a bride - to sell this as a bridal portrait she had better have her veil on or it is just a portrait (which is not all that bad) - If you want the bottom of her dress to show under the silhouette area (and you do! Remember a girl only gets married a few times and she wants to be able to match up which dress went with which groom!) you are going to have to light it a bit (studio time) - I think you have a really good idea with either a full silhouette (which I personally think would not only look better, but be easier to set up and get correct each time) or the semi-silhouette (it just needs some work to get the shot the way you want it). You can always just shoot a silhouette against a white background and do some kind of fancy thingy (technical term) around the outside. Instant happy bride! Instant seller! Instant fame and fortune! Now, why didn’t I think of this?

Grab a girl with a wedding gown (friend, relative, model, or whatever) and work it out so that you have a really nice example to show people.

Great idea,

Mark

I appreciate Mark's dedication to give detailed comments, but I do not agree with him, this time. The thing that does not fit is the title; to me it is not a wedding day picture, but a good portrait. Perhaps the photo would be a bit more mysterious if there was a little bit light, on the floor, on the dress perhaps, regards
