anish 0 Posted April 15, 2009 A foggy afternoon among the Giant Sequoias. Thanks for viewing. Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted April 15, 2009 Lovely use of the foggy conditions. The juxtaposition of the small tree and the huge ones is very compelling. The colours are rich and yet not overdone. Very nice all around. Except, . . . I can't help but wish for a bit more room at the bottom. Why have you cropped this so close? Link to comment
michaelfranz 0 Posted April 15, 2009 nice composition! I like the fog and the wee little tree! Link to comment
WJT 648 Posted April 15, 2009 I really like this! If one were to change anything I think I would have shown the base of the small tree. Still a great job. Regards. Link to comment
kemalriza 149 Posted April 15, 2009 Very nice picture. I especially love the composition. Thanks... Link to comment
anish 0 Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks for the feedback. Ian and Walter, I had the same thought process when taking the picture and did include the base of the small tree. But in doing so, I caught a snow patch at the base of the left-hand tree which I felt distracted from the composition, and thus I cropped it out. Attached is a variation including the base of the small tree. What do you think? Does the snow on the left tree distract? Thanks. Link to comment
paulpluskwik 0 Posted April 16, 2009 Anish, I enjoyed your photo and the title also. Great portfolio you have also.I also enjoy outdoor , landscape and wildlife photography, so it was nice to see all your great photos. Take care. Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted April 16, 2009 I think you have to go with your cropped version, the snow at the base of the LH tree is distracting. Either that or do some industrial strength cloning to rid of the snow. It is a great composition! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted April 16, 2009 Anish, I see what you mean -- difficult choice. I really like the placement of the two trees on either side, with the small tree offset from the background tree. Link to comment
deans 0 Posted April 17, 2009 I guess I'm going to go against the grain here and say I like your uncroped version better. I think you could even clean it up and dodge and burn and make it work. Sweet shot, Dean Link to comment
yttergaarden. 0 Posted April 17, 2009 I think its a wonderful image, great composition and a nice title. Cheers, LKV. Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted April 17, 2009 I agree with your assessment. The snow is worse than the crop (by far). I'd probably tackle the cloning job though. It certainly seems like it would be possible to do it and to do it seamlessly. Although, really, this is very, very lovely as it stands. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 20, 2009 I like your uncropped version _ my tastes are such that the snow clump at the base on the left tree trunk adds a bit of visual tension. You also have snow clumps on the central trunk ..... My approach would have been to take the same images as you did and then do some gardening (left trunk) and then take another shot. Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted September 10, 2009 I liked the composition, the colors and the overal mood...My two cents regarding the discussion above is as follows:I would not crop but clone the distracting patches of snow.I had a really enjoyable visit to your other photos as well, by the way...
