Original picture off my first roll of film shot (ever) 2/10/01

Looking for any and all suggestions on how i could have taken this

better. Thanks

A nice shot, but it doesn't seem to work as

a vertical shot. Perhaps if you left out the fence

and composed it horizontally, the pond wouldn't

look so crowded in the frame.

I think that it is underexposed. The cameras metering tends to push the average for the picture towards gray. The snow looks gray instead of white. I personally don't take black and white pictures and think that this would look better with color.
