Guest Guest Posted April 3, 2009 It's very high-styled, which suggests you're angling here for high-end. That is tough to do, so I'll be quite critical. The simplification of tonality into clipped blacks and warm flesh tones in what looks like a duotone treatment is quite effective. The warm colors make an intrinsically severe composition a little more inviting. The model's gesture of hand on forearm gives importance to the hand at her cheek, leading us to expect something--an object of some sort, possibly a product--so the loosely closed hand seems a little anticlimactic. The face and background are well abstracted, with detail where it counts, at eyes and mouth. The detail in the hands and left wrist which emphasizes them doesn't seem to go anywhere, as mentioned above. Some detail needs to be cleaned up--moles on throat and right upper arm, stray hairs at hairline, blobby-looking mascara and a little roughness in the upper lid on left eye, and what looks like a scar just above the right eyelid. You might also take out the small white area at the crown of the head just below the topknot, or extend it slightly to give better separation. The slight angling of the shoulders adds animation to the pose, and the lighting models the model's elegantly structured face very well. GerrySiegel 868 Posted April 4, 2009 Diana, I think this one is pretty successful for its simplicity. No jewelry nor even earrings is refreshing and puts power in those exotic eyes and makeup there... The only thing I find a little bothersome is her hairdo. Model has a long chiseled face and it looks something furry and exotic critter landed on top..Seriously, to me it lessens the power of that Queen Nefertiti- like powerful eyes and cheekbone long oval. An early quick reaction. I like this one needless to say. I don't do numerical ratings, sorry. I wish you well, gs Link to comment
omerk 0 Posted April 4, 2009 The pose of the model, clarity, DOF, and the tonal range used all makes this photo an amazing portrait, congrats... Link to comment

jkilgo 0 Posted April 5, 2009 This is a beautiful portrait...very nicely composed...my only complaint is that I would prefer to see it cropped just a bit lower at the bottom...at least enough to capture more of the bend in her arm...this would make it feel more connected. I reallly like the pose...excellent hand placement. Wonderful tones and textures, beautiful make-up and hair, and her eyes are just amazing. Nicely captured. Link to comment
