j._scott_schrader 0 Posted June 8, 2001 In my opinion this is excellent. A nice idea that was very well excecuted. I only wish it was taken by me. Congrats, it's a very cool shot. Link to comment
ovenden 0 Posted June 9, 2001 Very nice photograph. Good use of depth of field. This is a not a criticism, but I wonder if a polarizer could have taken care of the reflection on the top-right side of the glass ball.Excellent job. Link to comment
jerome 0 Posted June 23, 2001 Clever! Neat effect, and well-executed technically. As is, I'd crop it in more tightly but in the end you're left with an upside-down skyline that doesn't do much on its own. It could be a good starting point for additional effects, compositing, etc. As for the previous comment re: polarizing filter to remove the reflection, I don't think that would work. I would shade the ball on that side with a black gobo and block the reflection altogether. Link to comment

jk 0 Posted July 6, 2001 I can easyly imagine this shot as a Guide book title. Photoshop, polarizer filter or gobo(as Jerome P wrote) could remove this reflection. Great job. Jan Link to comment
paul_rootare1 0 Posted July 17, 2001 What I find most striking is that the hand is holding the globe in this uncomfortable and precarious way. This is a variation on something that has been done before (including in pencil by Escher), however I have never seen the hand positioned this way. Usually the globe is a metaphor for the world (or a world) and it is held more securely. Here even if this is meant to be a new twist on the old theme, I find it disturbing in a way that I don't think it was meant to be. Link to comment
matt_faubert 0 Posted August 17, 2001 Beautiful and inspired, I haven't seen this done before, kind of a still life/macro/landscape all in one. Link to comment
tim_wieneke 0 Posted August 21, 2001 Before I make you mad, let me clarify that the copycat here will be me. I love this shot!! Gotta try it - I'm thinking seascape, early morning sunrise with sailing ships in the background - yeah.... Link to comment
gabriella_d_vid 0 Posted February 2, 2003 lol, my second thought was that I have to do something similar too. my first thought was that the picture is just fantastic. I don't like the way it's cropped, but the idea is fantastic, and the photo is beautiful. Link to comment

actuallynoname 0 Posted November 27, 2005 nice concept and realization. Definitely, the best of the photos you posted here in photo.net. I find it is very elegant... I like it so much. Link to comment
dens 4 Posted January 17, 2006 excellent shot, good idea and well taken. I am no expert but the white thing to the right is distracting, you have isolated the subject with DOF very well which reduces this problem bit IMO not elimates it. Link to comment

larry w 0 Posted October 24, 2006 A great photograph for sure ... Did you at all consider taking another with the hand laying flat (not all that necessary, as this hand position works) and/or flipping the image? You know, in a kind of a gravity defying supernatural, world in the palm of a hand type thing ??? Don't get me wrong ... The image is great. It just kinda begs to be flipped upside down also. graham_beland1 0 Posted December 13, 2006 I just love this. I only wish I had thought of it. It's beautiful. Well done Ellis. Graham Link to comment
