Old Indian's Bush Stadium.

My ratings are low, but I'm unsure why... Any help would be

appreciated.

You walk here and see this subject, wanting to capture it and show it to others. Sure you captured the subject, but did you try to explain what you were thinking when you took the shot? Try "saying" in your picture: this part of my subject interested me most. Find different ways "compositions" to explain your thoughts of the same subject. Which explains it best? Work on this and the rest should follow, at least that's what I am hoping for myself.

I see a lot of Photoshop sepia toning to make B&W pictures look old or "vintage", but this shot looks like a genuine photo from the Thirties dug up from some old newspaper or Chamber of Commerce archives. Don't dwell on the ratings. If it really stunk, no one would take the time to rate it at all.

Ratings schmatings if you like the photo then it was a success...period.

I haven't looked at your other photos yet, but in this one the contrast seems a little low... I think it would look better if there was more definition between the sky, the building and the concrete...

 

Unfortunately I'm not too experienced with B&W photography, so I'm not sure what to suggest to improve it.

About the contrast, this is a black and white photo neg which was printed in a Walgreens, so the picture was brownish instead of black and what... I scanned it in B&W and thats why it looks flat... I think

I think it might be because the subject itself isn't particularly interesting. The building doesn't have an interesting shape and the black tar(?) curves on the ground don't really contribute much. That, coupled with the lack of contrast as mentioned above, makes for a bit of a dull result.

 

Maybe if you explained why you thought it was interesting, it might give the viewers a different perspective.
