Why?

This week with all the news re the cruel treatment of woman in AF.....we shake our heads....man has come so far 'technically', but morally .....to quote Omar N Bradly who graduated (Believe it or not)....Class of 1915 from West Point Military Academy, N.Y......"Ours is a world of NUCLEAR GIANTS and ETHICAL INFANTS. We know more about WAR than we know about PEACE; more about KILLING, than we know about LIVING..............and this extends to the 'Face of Poverty'......so etched in the face of this young girl. It does not have to be this way...it breaks my heart to see her face, and the 'burden' she carrys is also Symblolic of the 'Emotional' one she is weighed down with on a daily basis. WE....WE.....are so fortunate...thankyou for reminding us of the reality we are blessed with........sincerely, Gail.

Powerful question, powerful image. Her eyes really look like she is asking. Why.... Our society in general is to blame, regardless of the country. Greed, poor leadership, lack of natural affection, being self centred. I'm not saying everyone holds these traits but I think it takes a conscious effort to battle against them. Unfortunately government has failed to make the changes (power corrupts even well intentioned people) so we have to look else where... Wonderful image. I like the B&W with colour. Very striking.
