A quick portrait of my cat. Was trying out my new Minolta 7i with florescent lighting. You can't get those things to stay still for any length of time....

This is more a test of lighting technique and animal control than

photography. I was testing my newly aquired Quart-Halogen lights,

and homemade soft-boxes on my cat. It took about 70 exposures to get

this one. The catch light came from a big mirror and a little

flashlight.

Lazily hig-pass sharpened with a Photoshop action stolen from

someplace, auto-contrast, and a large eye-booger cloned away.

Odd, the first time I looked at this I just saw a big pile of leaves and a rusty barbecue. Now the photo matches the caption a little better. Anyway, I think what this most needs is a little hairlight to lift the darker parts of the fur from the background.

photo.net seems to have been rather flaky when it came to uploads over the last day or so. The rusty barbeque is another one of mine, up here only to show-off my limited duotoning skills. Thanks for your comment.
