I've never submitted a photo for critique before as I'm a beginner,

but I'd like to receive some feedback nonetheless. This photo was

from a vacation in 2001 to Quebec, Cananda. The original was a color

photograph (can be found in my gallery), but I thought the selenium

look and feel added more to the photo. Also, as a beginner, I'm not

sure how much alteration I should be doing with photos from my digital

camera. I tend to avoid most, but I usually always alter the levels

slightly. Does this mean that I'm not exposing properly? The adjustments

are typically minor, but I feel like I'm cheating somehow. Feedback

welcomed! Thanks Pete.

Hi Pete and welcome! Generally, this is not considered a digital alteration even with the changes you made. Digital alterations that are seen here are usually a photo taken and making it totally abstract. The levels adjustment that you did do not necessarily mean that your exposure was wrong. I think almost everyone does it even with perfectly exposed shots. I think your exposure here was right on. Don't feel like you are cheating when you take a good shot and make it even better. This is a great shot!! Keep posting and best regards
