The stones in foregrund like the backside of ancient animals! The light on water adds mystery to the capture! Excellent! Wam regards / Jnais Lukas

I liked this one.

It somehow manages to provide a sense of intimacy and makes me feel that it is only I am who is watching the show!

Reading all the pertinent comments & discussions was also quite a nice experience; I am happy that I am late ;)

Hello Jeff. Very beautifully done. I read your comments above about your views on PS. I must say that my feelings are very much like yours. For me, PS "over-users" cross the line when they start taking elements from different images and combining them in to one. Or even worse...using the same element in multiple images. I have seen this more than once on photo.net and lose interest rapidly in photographers that use this technique. On the other hand, although I don't have PS skills, I greatly admire those that do use it in artfully creative ways to enhance a photographic image. This puts me in a place quite distant from where I was a mere couple of years ago...when I rejected anything but "purist" photographers. I guess what I mean to say is that we all have our points at which we feel others have crossed "the line". Just as likely, there are others out there that probably feel even you and I cross "their line". What the digital age has done is opened up a real can of worms in two respects. Firstly...in the "good" can of worms is the creativity it has allowed each of us to express in our own ways. Secondly...in the "bad?" can of worms is the "melting pot"...or coming together...of different styles which in turn creates far more controversy, and ultimately many different communities of photographers. In real life this is where "gangs" begin. This is how religious wars begin. I certainly hope it never comes to that in photography. In a way it becomes like "doping" in sports. Once a couple of athletes begin to use the dope, in our case PS, then it puts pressure on all the others to do the same so as to remain "competitive". Unfortunately we're stuck with the dilemma.

Peace, to you, and to all photographers.

Ali: Thanks for your thoughts.

Alberto: So thrilled you like this one.

Fred F: This has the same feel as some of your compositions. I dragged this one out of the archives. It's actually several years old.

Ioannis: These rocks do have a prehistoric reptilian feel to them. I never thought of that.

Bulent: This garnered some interesting discussion, which is always much more fun for me than the picture itself. This view gives the impression that you're alone on the banks of wilderness, but actually there's an entire resort town behind with kiosks, candy stores, craft shops, a lot of bad art, and a variety of restaurants.

Gary: For the most part, I believe to each his own. If someone finds PS-created shots to be interesting, so be it. Most of the time, it's not my cup of tea, but there's a whole cadre of folks who fully believe that that's photography at its best. I can only compare it to my musical tastes. I grow tired quickly of heavily overworked pop songs, pretty or catchy as they might be upon first listen. However, I rarely tire of ragged singer-songwriters with imperfect, but interesting voices. Photographically, the world we have is an interesting, ragged, imperfect one worth capturing. Creating an over-saturated fantasy world makes for pretty shots, but I can't live there. I find myself spending less and less time digitally tweaking shots these days, although I have to confess I still find it fun from time to time. And I have to also confess, I have a few cheesy pop songs on my iPod that would mortify me if anyone knew I liked them.

How does the world look then, on the other side of the horizon ?

About this side : It has been a few months now that I'm trying to figure out every time i see this photo, what it is which seems to have been lost here on the rocks : bag, cloths, umbrella ??

Still no answer, but definitely the proof of some kind of llife

I think the item on the rocks is a scrap of a fishing net that has washed ashore. Sorry to keep the mystery afloat for so long. Thanks for making me laugh.

Meaning alive fishermen ...

But no mystery anymore ...

Luckily there is still "You Pull Me Like the Moon Pulls On the Tide" to wonder about for a long time.

take care

Great textures and tone values, it’s a provocative image, dark and peaceful at the same time. I really like it.

Powerful.

But too sharp back there, I think.  I know that would be a different picture, which is annoying, but this one fights with itself.  a bit..

You've taken what is typically a cliche type shot, but with the moody tones it rises above the cliche level.
