Hello Tony. I don't know how I missed this one. It's beautiful. Trying to work full time...run my own household...stay in shape physically with my workouts...get out with the camera...process my images...try to squeeze in as much time as I can on photo.net...it's just hard to cover all the bases. I tried to rate this with a 6/7, but the system wouldn't allow it. Kind of a goofy rule in my opinion. So, although in your ratings you will see my 6/6 please know that it should be a 6/7. Regards from Gary in Salt Lake City.

Saleh, Dean, Dr. Didi, Sonali, Thinh, Raymond, Ali, Xavier, Hussein, Bartosz, Cynthia, Michael, Susan, Mark & Gary: My thanks for all of the comments and very generous ratings (I had to pay a tax - perhaps someone rmoved the tax) ). I am getting a little stronger with HDR but I still have a ways to go. Warm regards,

Tony, this image blows me away with the power of the light and tonal range. I can see how HDR can be addicting. I'm still thinking about trying it, especially when I see work like this.

There are some 'top names' at PN who say that they won't use HDR and they specialize in Landscapes. My approach is to ask myself if one image will do the trick - if not, can I add a filter and use a single image, if not can two images suffice -if not take 3 or 5 RAW shots - at least you have 5 images covering the scene and it leaves you with options.

Thanks for the rating and the kind thoughts re the 6/7. If I continue to rate your images, with a 7 you may never have a chance to rate mine the way you think is appropriate. As you know we dont live in a perfectworld but I will take that world any day.

I don't know how I ever missed this image Tony...just breathtaking...and how the sun in emerging from the clouds on the left is so 'magical'.......don't see too many photos like this. Congrats on a great capture and great HDR work. Just lovely!

Really do appreciate all of the visits. I thought this was a special scene also. Turning in for the night.

Wow. I'm not sure how I missed this. I love the color above all. The yellow/orange cast and the absolutely spectacular sky put me in mind of the late 19th century Luminist paintings.

This is one of the very few HDR images I can say I love. If only everyone could accomplish the balance you've managed to achieve without over doing the HDR and keeping a fresh simple look but making it pop. I love it. Gorgeous image and the light is absolutely lovely.

Amanda - Thanks. I actually use HDr more often these days with my landscapes when there is a high dynamic range in the light. My objective is that the process of HDR should not be obvious - instead it should be transparent.
