ilia 0 Posted November 20, 2002 I was having some trouble lately with my scanner and Velvia - could not get the colors spot-on, especially blues. This one looks a tad over the top for me. Let me know if you also feel that way and if it worth doing some adjustments in blue hue and saturation... If you liked this image I would appreciate your comments on the rest of the photos in my Scenics folder. If you are not too much into the landscapes of mine :), you may like my "Portraits of family and friends" better. Link to comment
berrynose 0 Posted November 20, 2002 You're right. Velvia usually gives scans a blue hue. But once you get over it, it is a very sharp film. It is so blue that I found it necessary to use some light yellowish color compensation filter for objects under shadow, especially those lit by the blue sky. As for your image, the use of wide angle lens is interesting. However I'd prefer more patterned clouds in the sky. In fact an overcasted sky with heavy cloud contours (i.e.: storm clouds) will make this scene more dramatic and unique. As for the colors based on the fact that you took this on a sunny day, I think this one is fine. Since Velvia gives high contrast, I don't think you can do much to get the details of the bridge bottom without sacrificing the saturation of the colors. A lower angle of the sun will help reducing the contrast, if there is no obstruction. Link to comment
karnezis 0 Posted December 11, 2002 Who designed that bridge-it's leaning over?! Love that 14mm. Link to comment
