Hi,

I live in Brussels and have tried shooting the poor boy several times. I have given up... I must say it's hard to shoot such a well known subject ..., esp. given that it very often rains in Brussels and getting him right and interesting is really a challenge. Every day threre are tourists there, photographing a stone boy pissing in their direction. I must say photographically you completely failed... Not only is the subject in the dead centre, but also there is no interesting light, and you didn't go any farther in your artistic explorations than those crowds I have often seen. regards, Tomasz.

P.S. Considering your own comment on cohabitation: Belgians are not Dutch or French... they either SPEAK Dutch (Flemish) or French (Walloons).

Dear Tomasz

many thanks for your valuable comments , totally agree with all of your statement

but some quotes :

-I couldnt find any time to see this picture in sunny day ( as you mentioned in your written word)during my short stay , it is hard and needs so much focus, practising and selecting the best angle to reduce negative effect of light .

-and of course i am a beginner , no doubt , that's why i put my picture here to hear technical critique , so please give me comment on how to do it not why i did it

-Since you are living there and have enough time to shoot a better one , i admire you if you can help me to have better version of what you make note .at least it gives me the feeling how expert do it , waiting for you ...

P.S : I Know that this is Brussel landmark and I know that Belgian speaks French or Flemish , so there is sign of dutch or France , to make sure just search the word and you see the result .

I guess that I have already given you a reply somehow: I have given up shooting M.Pis, because I couldn't get it in an interesting way - so I thought the banal way is not worth posting. Secondly, for technical questions I repeat: You put the boy in the so-called "dead centre" of the frame, and you neither have interesting light, nor an interesting angle. I am reminding you that, this has been photographed milions of times so an unusual point of view or situation would be welcome. You challenge me to show you how I could do it....I once shot the boy in the morning (with some nice light) while it was being dressed by a service man for the rest of the day. It was a nice street photo. But i was not happy enough to post it... if i find it back i will send you the pic, but there is a chance I deleted the image. I encourage you to experiment with nice light and unusual angles/points of view to ATTRACT and PROVOKE your viewers. At least, try to be patient enough to wait for interesting light. regards, Tomasz.

P.S. As for your "Flemish/French cohabitation" - if you want to give some info on Belgium it's worth doing it in a CLEAR way. Yours could have been confusing. Better to say: Flemish/Walloon...and I am still not sure if M.Pis is a symbol of that "cohabitation".
