gordonjb 10,860 Posted March 3, 2009 This one is out of the park. The light is magic, as is the composition and the expression you've caught. The PP is so apt for the image, giving the photo an early 1900s feel. Superb work on this one Jeff, from conception all the way down the line. My usual response to images of peoples kids is to click the mouse as fast as possible, this photo, I could linger on for a long time. Link to comment
nachosaezdeugarte 0 Posted March 3, 2009 Wonderful portrait Jeff. Elegant b/w edition. Kind regards. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 4, 2009 It is a perfect portrait of Noah in a moment of reflection. The light is wonderful as well as the softness and his expression. He is like coming out toward the light..It looks a portrait that was done with a lot of love, and I love the result! Very touching. added to my favorites Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Nicely done. I like how you caught Noah with such a contemplative expression with his eyes fixed on something. I wonder what he is looking at. This image is more than a faithful visual depiction. It's an invitation to be engaged. Link to comment
margaret1 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Love the light and the softness of this, Jeff. Keep them young as long as you can. Link to comment

timkeller 0 Posted March 6, 2009 A charmingly expressive (i.e., expressing both him and you) portrait with great light. I love it in B&W. Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 9, 2009 This one has really grown on me since I first saw it. It attests to both the subtlety of the picture and a surprising lack of perceptiveness on my part. Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted March 9, 2009 A lovely portrait with excellent treatment. The soft focus gives an antique feel which is most effective. Link to comment
deniselanterman 0 Posted March 9, 2009 Hi Jeff, I love the timelessness of this very artistic portrait. The soft focus and lighting make it magical. Cheers. Denise Link to comment
inoneeye 8,852 Posted March 10, 2009 Very special image and portrait Jeff. This will be a wonderful photo for little buddy to share with the future spouse, kids and grandkids. I hope someone has had the foresight to scrapbook this one. And that is not to say that it is only for the scrapbook, i would have this one proudly hanging on my wall. I don't need to know little buddy to appreciate this image as it is a universally loaded story well beyond a reproduction of who it is.The look reminds me of the classic verito lenses. Which, although distinctive and worth their weight in gold, only really shine imo with an expressive image, subject/expression/lighting..., like you have captured here. ie; the effect follows the image. What a great gaze and mouth little buddy has and those bib jeans are priceless here. laurent_jaussi 0 Posted March 10, 2009 I like the light and tone Jeff...the expression is full of curiousity (for me)...there is a nostalgic mood together with a freshness that strike me....it feels very natural and straightforward (altough I have the impression it could have been processed to some extent) which suits this kind of kid's image so welll... jeffl7 0 Posted March 10, 2009 Little Buddy is my daughter Gabi's nickname for her little brother Noah. She uses it when they're in a good space, typically acting as co-conspirators in some sort of mischief. I liked the original picture, but it seemed a little too in focus and modern to create the feeling I wanted. So, this is blurred and grayed with flattened tones and a touch of digital noise. I love these kids, and I never tire of photographing them. But I'm trying very hard not to turn my portfolio into a digital wallet full of family photos. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted March 11, 2009 To me, this has a shadowy dream like quality to it Jeff. I find that in a few of your photos. It also gives me the feeling of looking back at a very old memory, or a photo from another century, or an other world. Maybe that is just my reaction to blur. It is very interesting to look at. I love the soft gentle light and of course your cute little subject. Link to comment
alberto_quintal 2 Posted March 11, 2009 Lovely and beautiful soft portrait, I like it a lot. Alberto Link to comment
carbonix 1 Posted March 13, 2009 Excellent expression on his face , I like how you used the light here to get a more dramatic approach against the soft blur. Link to comment
