julianj1 0 Posted February 28, 2009 I would welcome your views on this one taken during the recent snow in the UK. Link to comment
stephenfenech 0 Posted March 1, 2009 In my humble opinion, a truly remarkable shot. However, I truly believe that this shot would be far more effective in black and white. Other minor amendments which I would make is to crop off 1 cm or so from the right in order to eliminate the 'burned out' clouds. Finally, I would also 'delete' or 'clone' the poles in the background as they distract one's own attention from the trees and thus giving the whole scene a more 'natural and peaceful' appearance. amitai schwartz 0 Posted March 2, 2009 I light this very much. I like the blue sky and think that b&w would lose that wonderful effect. It would also make into more the work of the photographer than the natural setting (poles and all) that is depicted here. Well framed and nice color tones. Link to comment
julianj1 0 Posted March 2, 2009 Thanks Stephen and Amitai, I really appreciate constructive input like this, particularly from such good photographers. I am a huge B&W fan so I will certainly try it, I started with colour because the delicacy of the duck-egg blues was beautiful against the snow. On balance I agree about the poles and the burnt out patch is indeed not pleasant (I think I will first try some localised burning/curves or recovery in RAW as a crop might spoil the balance to my eye).
