Robert, so far with my limited experience, I've had a tough time getting these front views correct. I like the wide aperture for the shallow DOF, but if it's too shallow the eyes and the beak are not both in focus.

I'd have to agree that the front views are tough to get....mostly luck. I read somewhere that good luck is when opportunity meets preparedness. Truer words couldn't be spoken and this shot is proof. I wish it were mine!
