Pierre Dumas

As a matter of fact only the "skin" was made out of a picture taken with 450D and an extension tube of 31mm, the rest of the parts are taken with my Sony V-3!

I like this one, and especially how you used the "real" parts of you with their natrual asymmetry in order to make this portrait just disturbing enough : but still very much more sympathetic than scary

Gosh, you beat me to it. Here, I thought I was the only alien to show up on PN!

Yep, this does it. If there were any doubts about the limits of your creativity, this photo removes them all. Maybe what really appeals to me are not the techniques by which you crafted this. It's how you humanized an image that oitherwise would have been just an interesting combination of colors, shapes, and textures.

Awesome work, my friend....,

The top of the image bulges like a derriere, well, once you get to that visual, the mouth does nothing to dissuade that idea... I think Saturday Night Live had a talking derriere...

Your essence unleashed! So many brains inside the head that the skull is stretched. That's what happens when you let a mind go where yours goes. Cheers, GJ

Pierre-

This is so intriguing; I'm glad you shared your technique with us. I agree with the person who said it makes her a bit uncomfortable. It makes me a little uncomfortable also - and I finally figured out what it was that did that. Pink and blue are the traditional colors for babies. The shape you created is definitely extra-terrestrial-like. In this picture I see a representation of an infant alien born with intelligence and knowledge far beyond that of human infants - this I see in the eyes. His eyes look at me not with wonder, but with knowing; they pierce and look through me. A human infant does not do this. As a viewer I wonder what this will grow into. I admire the technique and the creativity, but I would never hang this in my house. Help!I need to go look at Whole Tomato and Sea Stars! : D

However, I will not let my personal reactions overcome objectivity; this is an excellent creative work in all aspects. The pink and blue is perfect for this image if I have understood the finer nuances it correctly, but it is a color combination I have never liked personally - but rating is not about personal - it's about objectivity (ha - I will not act like a French figure skating judge.) Aesthetically it is a very good work. I get a slight feeling of claustrophobia looking at this picture; it seems a little cramped to me, like a shoe that is too tight or an object that is too big for the box in which it's been placed. I wish it had a little more space around it because it feels almost too big for the canvas. Maybe more of the blue around the edges fading out to a light frame would help give it some room. Just sharing my reactions as viewer...

PS I see the Three Musketeers paid their usual homage to you. Good for them; I hope they sleep well at night.

This makes me a little uncomfortable too. It is just so strange. The way the temples are bulging out beyond the frame is unsettling, it like an alien insect bursting out of a cocoon. A very facinating creation. It is original, creative, and unusual.

Thank you for sharing your editing secret. I haven't tried polar opposites yet.

All the best.

I think the US government has to introduce an alien faceprint scan at the points of entry... Quite dangerous species hide in the darkness.... And their brain is HUGE! cheers Jana

Welcome Claire, I think you are for the first time a visitor of my portfolio! Good for you that you are related to Mr. Dumas, I'm certainly not, I'm not even French, so you don't worry about the real character of your predecessors, ha!

whew....glad I read your description.........at first I thought you'd had enough of the 'crap' the work has to offer, ......decided to 'moon' the camera.....do the polar coordinates....and some ripple.....( better watch myself.....don't want to give you any ideas.....who knows what masterpiece that may reveal!!) good work Pierre....experimenting with oneself can offer many abstract masterpieces!!!! (there I go again!!) Bravo!(6/7)

Is it a symptom of close future of mankind? Will we be reduced and confined by our fingerprints, DNA-code and retinal pattern? That interpretation crossed my mind, but I'm sure there's a lot of others... Thinkable photo and funny on the side :) Cheers Pierre, CF
